There are some special competitions that take place at convention: Chapter Scrapbook, Quiz Bowl, and National Chapter presentations.  Not officially recognized CDEs, Scrapbook & Quiz Bowl events have become staples of the convention experience for many chapters.  National Chapter presentations highlight FFA chapters that successfully complete an annual Program of Activities (PoA), which includes a series of activities designed to encourage its members to grow as individuals, to work as part of a team and to serve others.

National Chapter

In order to qualify for a state or national award, your chapter must complete at least 15 activities: one for each of the five quality standards in each of the three divisions.

Note from the 2017 Nat. Chapter Coordinator (4-11-17):  Below is the information that may be beneficial in your preparation for the National Chapter Presentation which will take place on Saturday, May 12th in Todd Hall.

The National Chapter award will be two phase this year.

1.       National Chapter Application: The written application is due April 1 to the State Advisor (not the Pullman address). The applications will be scored on Saturday April 7th. The application must be printed in its entirety. The written score will carry with the application to state convention.

2.       National Chapter Presentation: The rubric and information is attached. The presentation is expected to take place on Saturday, May 12th, beginning at 12:00pm. We will be having flights in Todd 404, 411, 413 and 420.  Judge Orientation will take place in Room 404 at 11:00am and Coaches Meeting will take place at 11:30-11:50 in Room 411. Flights and times will be assigned after the National Chapter Application Scoring is completed on April 7th and be published via the Listserv. Please read through the attachment for full information but a few highlights: The number of speakers can range from 1-5. The presentation should be no more than 15 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes for questions. Official Dress is required.  Handouts and props are not permitted. The presentation score will be combined with the application score to determine in-state rankings.

The top chapters will be announced on stage, and will be sent on to Nationals for consideration, but will be sent un-ranked for equal consideration of all chapters. Thanks, Denny

An opportunity for chapters to create an annual pictorial record of their Program of Activities (POA), the Scrapbook event highlights originality, use of written materials and pictures, as well as neatness and conciseness.

The Quiz Bowl event requires participants to access a vast collection of knowledge about FFA and agriculture in general, all while utilizing their lightning-quick reflexes to answer before the opposing team. Limited to the newest members of our organization - 7th & 8th grade members - the Quiz Bowl event helps prepare students for a successful career in agriculture while developing their leadership and critical thinking skills.
