Reminiscing about my year of service thus far to the Washington State FFA Association!!

So I am up, and its 12:42 in the evening or morning whichever is right! As I sat here earlier I decided to look through our very large collection of photos on this website and could not believe how much we actually did this past year. Looking through picture after picture I was reminded of the countless times we had a blast while hanging out with members, traveling around the state and nation, and attending another one of the awesome FFA conferences. It was almost like looking at an old year book or photo album and remembering the things I did “back then”. Then I came to realize how short of a period it took for me to forget what I had done. Not saying I do not remember anything, but we do so much that we tend to just group up our memories and store them all in the small crevices in out minds for later processing. As I sat processing the trips and people I met, I realized this experience was only one in a handful of many that I had just “done”.

Sometimes in life we tend to do so much that instead of appreciating the things when they happen, we leave them for later, often forgetting to process what we had experienced. In a society where dial-up and sit-down restaurants are the “past” and the new age of ethernet internet connections and fast food restaurants can get us what we want when we want it, we forget the simple things in life. What ever happened to just jumping in your car to take a “drive” or actually having a family dinner and sitting around a dinner table? Can we not take the time anymore to just have some patience, maybe reading a book for a change instead of watching the movie version. That is just one thing I have had to change about myself.

Always being on the go sometimes causes you to forget the simple things in life we take for granted. I have done some awesome things this past year, but some of my most memorable experiences were hanging out with members enjoying the simple things they had done. For example in Standwood we decided one night to go “Ice Blocking”, I recommend this for everyone, and it was one of the silliest yet enjoyable experiences I have had. Or in Ferndale when we all pilled in our cars to play a fun game of “Hide-and-Go seek” while still in our vehicles. Those are just a couple of the simple things we did, yet they were a blast. Try not to get caught up in the fast paced lane of society, but try to savor the time you have because it goes by faster than you think.

As cliche as it sounds, it feels like it was yesterday when we were elected to serve as State Officers. I still remember the excitement I had and the adrenaline running through my veins as my name was called. Wow me?? really? Could it really be me? and it was! I have been blessed to have an amazing team to serve with as well as an amazing group of members as support and encouragement. We only have 3 weeks till convention. I urge you all to savor the moment, live life to the fullest, and try to seize life by the horns. Have a very fun time at Convention and say hi to us throughout the week. Make more memories for yourself and remember to never forget those amazing fun moments that you are going to have!!!!!! You guys are my motivation!! Thanks you for the Amazing year!!!

I’m out for now!! See you all at Convention!!!!
